Here we are, just last year, at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat. It was a 5 day retreat (or vacation!) with some of my very favorite Yoginis! The ashram food is delicious, the vibe is outstanding, and there's swimming!
I have been invited again to do a 5 day Big Yoga workshop, and I'd love for you to join me! As we did last year, we'll practice the Flex-Ability series, which is perfect to re-educate stiff muscles in proper movement. We'll do sun salutations and moon salutations, providing adaptations to the traditional ways of doing these strengthening vinyasas. Chanting is also on the menu, both in our own private classes, and also with the whole ashram in their daily morning meditation sessions, which are an inspiration.
There is plenty of time for the beach, which is lovely. It's just down the street from a big casino if you're feeling lucky. This year we'll add some restorative yoga and also Aqua yoga, which I have been teaching in the pool here in Michigan. I think it will be even more fun in the ocean!
All the traditional forward and backward bends will be explored, twists and inversions too. And the most delicious of all--Yoga Nidra, the progressive deep relaxation. Then a little pranayama in the clean air of the islands will prepare us for deep meditations and restful sleep. You will come back to your life completely renewed. And mid-March is the perfect time to get away from the lingering winter weather. I hope you'll join me!
